Senior Software Engineer

We're looking for a talented and experienced Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our founding engineering team. This is a unique opportunity to be one of the first key hires, playing a pivotal role in shaping not only our core backend services but also our engineering culture and the future direction of Chainloop.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Designing and Building Core Services: As a foundational member, you'll architect, develop, and scale robust backend systems in Go that form the backbone of the Chainloop platform. Your early decisions will have a lasting impact.
• Pioneering SDLC Governance and Visibility: Contribute to the design and implementation of our automated compliance platform.
• Ensuring Security and Reliability: Champion and implement secure by design principles and security best practices throughout the development lifecycle. Write code that is reliable, maintainable, and performant. After all, our users trust us to help them secure their own work.
• Collaboration and Setting the Standard: Work closely with the founding team and help establish best practices. As the team grows, you'll have the opportunity to mentor new members.
• Driving Technical Excellence: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in backend technologies, software supply chain security, AI, and the CNCF landscape. Bring fresh ideas to the table and help us continuously improve our technical stack and processes from the ground up.
• Contributing to Open Source: Engage with our open-source community, review contributions, and help foster a welcoming and collaborative environment.
• Exploring AI in Supply Chain Security: Research, prototype, and implement applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance our platform's capabilities in areas like anomaly detection, risk assessment, and intelligent automation within the software supply chain.

What We're Looking For:

• Extensive Backend Experience: Proven experience (5+ years) in designing, building, and maintaining complex backend systems. Experience in early-stage product development is a strong plus.
• Proficiency in Go: Strong hands-on experience with Go is highly desirable. Experience with other backend languages (e.g., Python, Java, Rust) coupled with a strong desire to learn and work with Go is also valuable.
• Cloud-Native Expertise: Solid understanding of cloud-native technologies, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, and CI/CD principles. You understand how modern software is built and deployed.
• API Design Skills: A strong understanding of RESTful API design principles and best practices. Experience with gRPC is a plus.
• Security Mindset: A genuine interest in software security, ideally with some experience in DevSecOps, secure by design principles, or software supply chain security concepts. You understand the importance of building systems that are secure from the ground up.
• Interest in AI/ML: Curiosity or experience in applying artificial intelligence or machine learning techniques to solve real-world problems is a plus.
• Embrace the unknown: Comfortable with ambiguity, proactive, and eager to take ownership in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Problem-Solving Abilities: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. You can break down complex problems into manageable tasks.
